The American School of Valencia , founded in 1980, is a bilingual, parent-owned, co-educational day school. The Parents' Association, to which all parents belong, elects the Board of Governors. The school is an accredited member of the Middle States Association, and it is also recognized by the Spanish Ministry of Education. The school follows an American college-preparatory curriculum which combines at higher grade levels with the Spanish curriculum to prepare students for the Spanish university entrance exam. English is the principal language of instruction, with Spanish language skills practiced for a minimum of one hour daily. A second foreign language is taught from seventh grade.

The campus of the American School of Valencia comprises 32,000 square meters. Two modern purpose-built structures house the pre-school, elementary, and high school. There are computer labs, four science labs, an art room, a music room, and a senior and junior library. Sports offered include basketball, soccer and volleyball; the school has a multi-purpose sports hall and a swimming pool.
