Costs: There is no charge, however there is a suggested donation of $2 for adults and $1 for children, but it is not required

Permanent exhibits: Life-size recreated village scene with houses, mannequins involved in daily activities; 7 exhibit islands with major topics and with artifacts, dioramas, graphics and text, dealing with the Mississippian culture and archaeological discoveries at Cahokia; a 17-minute orientation show

Class Trip Programs:
Most classes just do a basic field trip that includes seeing the orientation video, viewing the exhibits, and hiking an interpretive trail outside (1.5-3 hours). Teachers wishing an educational hands-on program plus the above, must first attend a teachers workshop.

Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site is the largest prehistoric Indian site in the country and is also a National Historic Landmark and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It also has a world-class museum/interpretive center and an excellent Gift Shop. Several outdoor interpretive trails (self-guided for school groups with tape players or guidebooks).
