Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind (known until the 1950's as the Columbia Polytechnic Institute for the Blind) was founded in 1900 by two blind men from Connecticut , Francis R. Cleveland and H.R.W. Miles in Washington , D.C.

Service Description

Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind (CLB) is a nonprofit charitable organization headquartered in Washington , D.C. Founded in 1900, CLB is the only organization in the area that provides a comprehensive range of programs and services to people of all ages living in the Washington metropolitan region who are blind or visually impaired. These programs and services are provided in the Riverdale, Md., Silver Spring , MD and Washington , DC offices.

Mission Statement

Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind has been dedicated to helping the blind or visually impaired population of the greater Washington region overcome the challenges of vision loss. Our work enables people of all ages who are blind or visually impaired to remain independent, active and productive in our society.
