IQ tests help clarify and deem levels of giftedness. Most IQ test are unable to determine the level of giftedness. While there are tests which reach up to 160 (Wechleser), the test is intended to be used within the average range (70-130). The Stanford-Binet form L-M, though outdated, is the only test to accurately identify the exceptionally and profoundly gifted. The Stanford-Binet form V and Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children- Fourth revision are the most recent revisions and are being evaluated for this population. Mensa has tests but are specifically designed for adults. They also forbid releasing scores so it is impossible to determined the score. Those who are gifted in areas such as Literature and Arts tend to do poorly on IQ tests, which are designed to be Science and Math oriented.
