Curriculum Highlights:
This unique 18-day program will introduce participants to present-day global peace studies. You will examine international conflict from a historical perspective, learn about the issues at the root of these conflicts, study conflict resolution from global and Scandinavian perspectives, and learn first hand why Scandinavia is at the forefront of international peace work.

Program Information

The program begins at International People's College (IPC) in Elsinore , Denmark , 25 miles north of Copenhagen . www.ipc.dk IPC is renowned internationally as a center of peace studies. IPC's faculty comprises peace scholars from around the globe with diverse academic and professional backgrounds who will lead the various curricular components of the program. While at IPC, ISSAC students will live, learn, and collaborate with Crossing Borders through activities to gain experience in conflict resolution (tentative).

www.crossingborder.org
Crossing Borders is a non-profit, non-governmental organization under the direction of Garba Dilallo that provides a neutral space and skills training for youth and educators from societies in conflict. The concept of Crossing Borders is defined as learning to live, study, and work together on issues of common interest and concern, with tangible and useful output in absolute equality.

Such a direct experience of living together at IPC and learning useful skills will help demystify the “other,” providing him/her with a face, name, family, and story. It will reduce the fear of the stranger as the genesis of violent conflicts while working toward mutual knowledge, understanding, and cooperative coexistence. After twelve days at IPC, the ISSAC group will travel to Oslo , Norway for peace-related visits, sightseeing, and fun
