Focus: The Kalmar Nyckel is a re-creation of the ship which brought the first permanent European settlers to the Delaware Valley in 1638. Our programs teach the history of the period and the science involved in sailing tall ships.
Ages: 6 to 106
Cost: $5.00 and up
Notes: The Education Director will visit the school for a preparatory or a follow-up lesson.

Major Exhibits
The re-created three masted 1625 tall ship, Kalmar Nyckel, with its colorful and beautiful carving, tall masts, and fighting tops. The Shipyard Museum with its exhibits on the building of the Kalmar Nyckel, the history of the early colonial period. The working Blacksmith Shop whose smithy provided all the metalwork for the ship except its cannon and bell. Adjacent Fort Christina and Old Swedes Church.
