Program Information

The landscape painting portion of the program takes place at Capellagården, a charming arts center on the beautiful island of Öland . www.capellagarden.se

Öland is situated off the southeast coast of Sweden in the Baltic Sea, and it is the place in Sweden that receives the most light. Classes at Capellagården will be taught by Weikko Kuuzela, a visual artist who teaches painting, drawing, and art history at Capellagården. While at Capellagården, students in the ISSAC program will receive individualized painting instruction. Each day will start with a demonstration of a technique that will be

followed by an assignment. The group will work in the workshop at Capellagården, outdoors in the vicinity, and also while touring the countryside. Each day will conclude with a session discussing the work performed during the day. There will also be different perspectives on art as a means of documentation, as a way of expressing oneself and lectures on composition. During the week there will be opportunities for the participants to join different activities that take place at Capellagården.
