Admissions Requirements

Students of all ages may take our independent study courses. Students under the age of 18 who are residents of a school district in the United States must submit written permission from a school official in their district to enter our diploma program, or they must supply written verification that they are in compliance with their state's home schooling education requirements. Students living outside the United States may enroll in our diploma program if they include with their diploma application an official transcript of all previously completed high school coursework (beginning with grade nine).

Mission Statement

The mission of the University of Missouri High School is to provide distance learning courses, through a variety of delivery methods, that will complement traditional high school curricula and provide an accredited diploma program for independent learners of all ages seeking an alternative to traditional high school attendance.

School History

MU High is offered through the Center for Distance and Independent Study (CDIS), a program of University of Missouri Extension. CDIS has established itself as a national model and leader in the field of distance and continuing education. Originally formed as an independent study division in 1911, CDIS has an uninterrupted history of providing award-winning individualized learning opportunities to students away from the campus. The Center specializes in serving students, including adult learners and working professionals, through courses at the university, high school, and noncredit levels. It remains one of the largest university-sponsored independent study programs in the United States.
