Focus:
The 65-acre Museum of Appalachia near Norris contains a collection of more than 35 authentic log cabins and buildings, including the Tennessee home of Mark Twain's family and the primitive one-room Arnwine Cabin built around 1800 which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places
Notes: The Museum of Appalachia is constantly acquiring Art, tools and other artifacts to keep our exhibits fresh and interesting. We were recently awarded a Smithsonian Institution Affiliation for our ongoing preservation work

Major Exhibits: Appalachian Hall of Fame houses numerous displays devoted to relics belonging to notable, historic, famous, interesting, colorful and unusual folk from the region.
Display Barn with one of the nation's largest collections of frontier and pioneer memorabilia.
The People's Building houses an extensive exhibit on the fabulous Harrison Mayes, the coal miner who erected huge concrete crosses across the country. Also included are the Christy Exhibit and the James Bunch Folk Art Exhibit.
Exhibits of /2007: Recently acquired "Tom Cassidy House" a small cabin which was recently acquired and moved to the museum grounds. |
