Focus: Preservation of the ancient histories of the Calusa and the relatively recent histories of the people who were the early pioneers of the islands

Exhibits

Large Calusa Indian display, consisting of authentic shell tools and pottery shards found in local mounds. We also have a collection of art from the Calusa, including the feline and the deer head with articulated ears, both of which were made from plaster cast from the originals.

Extensive shell collection consisting of shells from all over the world.

Pioneer exhibits containing household items and tools used more than 100 years ago, along with memorabilia from the early settlers of Pine Island.

Extensive fossil collection, dating back to the Pleioscene era.

Programs

Class Trip Programs:
Tours for school classes may be arranged by calling in advance. We encourage the involvement of children in the museum and welcome class field trips to the museum.

Class Trip Pricing:
School children from Pine Island schools are admitted free of charge. Out-of-area admission is $1.00 per student. notes=Gift Shop on site,featuring a large selection of books about Florida, as well as items made by local artisans.
