Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El Day School
Basic Information
Additional Information
Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El Day School is committed to academic excellence in General and Judaic studies, and to the teaching of Jewish history, Jewish practices, and Jewish ethics and values. The educational goals of the Day School are twofold: to promote achievement in learning and to foster Jewish identity and literacy within a Reform Jewish perspective. These goals are accomplished in a nurturing yet challenging learning environment. The individual needs of all our students are of primary importance; all students are encouraged to reach their full potential. The Day School activities and teachings reach beyond the classroom to involve the home, family, and community.
In addition to a full-service computer lab for whole-group instruction, each classroom boasts a 5 to 1 student/computer ratio. An individualized technology program is implemented in the Elementary Division classrooms. Based on national educational standards, including built-in assessments and accountability, the Success-Maker software is used on a daily basis in each classroom. After the assignment of a password, each student has a program to follow which has been personalized according to his or her instructional needs. A fully certified educational technology specialist provides all of the students with age-appropriate instruction in: word processing, as well as specialized programs such as: Kids Pix, Hyper Studio, PowerPoint, and more. Working in conjunction with the classroom teachers, the students use the computer for research, e-mail connections to experts, virtual field trips, and other on-line learning opportunities.
Entry into the Elementary Division, Grades K-5, is based on an individual interview and screening administered by a professional psycho-education evaluator, a group screening done by the staff of the Day School, and records from previous school(s) attended.
Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El Elementary Division will provide a quality integrated Judaic and General Education for each child, while instilling Jewish values and self esteem in a safe, secure and nurturing environment.
