Detailed Organization Information:

The San Diego Psychological Association (SDPA) is a professional membership based association which has been supporting the needs of local psychologists and mental health professionals in San DiegoCounty for nearly 40 years. SDPA is committed to strengthening the profession of psychology and serves as a local chapter of the California Psychological Association (CPA).

Our Vision is to enhance human welfare by promoting the highest standards of practice in professional psychology in San Diego.

Our Mission is to have a positive impact on current issues related to psychology.  SDPA strives to support professional independence, research, ethical practice, career development, education and networking with outside organizations and related professions. As a local chapter of the California Psychological Association, we make every effort to serve the local community in ways respectful of diversity and human differences.

SDPA is a vibrant and growing organization with over twenty working committees serving to fulfill the mission of our organization. These working groups are the lifeline of the organization and in addition to serving the SDPA membership, many committees are involved in providing resources to help serve the needs of the local mental health population and the greater San Diego community.

Community services include the Psychologist Information & Referral Service; the Give An Hour program, providing quality therapeutic services at no charge to military service men and women and their families; and Psychology 2000, a program designed to make psychological services accessible to underserved populations and to those without health insurance. This unique program gives participating individuals an opportunity to “give back“, by way of volunteering one hour of community services for each hour of therapy received.  Additionally, SDPA offers a professional Speaker Service which provides, upon request, a licensed psychologist to speak to community groups at no charge on virtually any mental health related topic. For more information on any of these programs, call us at (619) 297-4825, or visit us on our website at www.sdpsych.org.
