Admissions Requirements:
Students are referred by local and regional school districts. Through the Interstate Compact, residential students who live on Lakemary campus year round are considered students of the local school district, and, as such, are funded at Lakemary School through a contractual agreement with the local Paola, Kansas school district.

School History: Lakemary began in 1969 by the Ursuline Sisters in Paola, KS in response to a need demonstrated by parents and community residents for a residential school in order for children with mental retardation to thrive.
Notes/School Information:
Lakemary Center operates a unique psychiatric residential treatment center for children who have developmental disabilities and concurrent psychiatric disorders. Learning opportunities at Lakemary's on-campus year round school are provided by full time credentialed staff. Treatment services are coordinated across settings 24/7 achieving an extraordinarily high degree of consistency. Many of the children that attend Lakemary school have experienced abuse and/or neglect. Lakemary has developed a range of effective interventions for these children.
