Advocacy, Consultation, Evaluation and Expert Services pertaining to matters of special education (attention deficit disorders, behavioral disorders, emotional disorders, learning disabilities, other health impairment, traumatic brain injury et. al,, assessment and evaluation, behavior management (including behavior modification), bullying, evaluation teams, independent educational evaluations, individualized education teams, school discipline, special education regulations, and violence prevention.
Dr. Imber earned his master's degree from the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Connecticut (in Learning Disabilities in 1971. He completed his doctoral studies from the same department at the University of Connecticut in Emotional Disturbance. He has served as a full time professor of Special Education at Rhode Island College since 1973.
Dr. Imber has served as a consultant since 1974. He has been conducting independent educational evaluations since 1976. He has worked for school departments as well as for several hundreds of parents on behalf of students with and without disabilities. Dr. Imber assisted three institutions to achieve status as a non-public special education program certified by the Rhode Island Department of Education. Most recently, he has served as a consultant at an alterative middle school for students with disabilities (ADHD, Autism, ED and LD, primarily).
He has published several articles in refereed journals on a national basis. He has given many local, statewide, regional and national presentations. Dr. Imber has also held national offices in his field of expertise.
He is certified in many areas as a special educator. He is also certified as a school psychologist and an administrator of special education.
