Program History:
City of Olathe volunteers do more than just offer time and energy to help others. They also add value to Olathe's economy by providing services to our communities and supporting our staff. Olathe volunteers an average of 25 hours per year. The quality of life we enjoy in Olathe is dependent on the effective and efficient delivery of city services. Citizens and Community Group involvement are essential in providing the best services. It is the ultimate government by the people.
Events:
The City of Olathe offers a variety of volunteer opportunities. Volunteers opportunities are available in many departments of the City including Police, Fire, Parks and Recreation, Municipal Court, HumanResources, Public Works, Human Relations/Housing and the Maffahie Historical Farmstead. As a “Star Volunteer” you will receive on-the-job training by experienced staff members and get a first hand look at how city operates. It is our desire to focus on:
Increase public awareness of municipal services and operations.
Support innovative ways of solving community problems through volunteer efforts.
Allow and enhance citizen participation in city government.
Assist city departments in strengthening service delivery by using volunteers to complement paid staff.
Expand level and delivery of public services beyond tax support limitations.
