Testimonials

The Ito family is moving back to Japan on June 2006. For the past 2-1/2 years, the Ito family has been part of OSF and big supporter of its programs and events. Mr. Ito kindly e-mailed OSF to express his appreciation for the excellent services and support his family received: "Without OSF, Fumiya could not achieve such a big progress. OSF also encourage me what we, parents can do for my son. After returning Japan , I will do something not only for Fumiya but also for children who need help like him. We have learned so much for OSF"

I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the wonderful support that you and your organization provides Amber. She always enjoys her time with you and your excellent volunteer staff. Although she is nonverbal, she is anxious and happy to go to your organization.

Information

OSF is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization established in 2002 in Cupertino. The mission of OSF is to help special needs (developmentally disabled) children, adults, seniors, and their families to be able to live a normal life in the community with dignity, like you and me. Hence OSF is actively advocating community disability awareness, as well as providing special needs volunteer training and support.

OSF helps developmentally disabled individuals not regarding to their race, age, gender, or disability severity. OSF provides special educational classes and training, age and capability proper therapeutical activities and programs, seasonal special sports program, family resources and consultation, as well as family and sibling support.

Our current programs include Special Needs Enrichment classes (which covers Music and Reading, Adoptive Physical Exercise, Occupational Therapy, and Computer), Integrated Social and Play Group, Integrated Child Care , After School Enrichment, OT Class, Music Class, Independent Living Skills Training, and Summer Day Camp. We also provide seasonal special sports activities like Basketball, Baseball, Soccer, and Swimming to promote and preserve the health of individuals with special needs. Independent supportive living and senior support programs are currently under planning. Adult Day Program is also on our plan of implementation.

The entire organization is currently run by volunteers. All of our income (fees, donations, grants) are used on facility, material, equipment, teachers' stipend, and office needs. We are in need of donations for running and expanding our services to families with special needs. All donations will be acknowledged on the OSF website and news letter, which reaches to more than 20 0 families of children with special needs, and over 80 0 community volunteers, and many community supporters. Your generosity and continued support is greatly appreciated. Please visit our web site at www.osfamilies.org for more information.
