Program Information

SLG's Total Immersion Chinese Summer Camp is designed for students aged 8-18. It combines language learning, culture immersion, fun activities, and traveling altogether.

In addition to the Chinese language and culture learning (see Curriculum Highlights), the camp also provides

  • Sightseeing in the city where the camp is located, including the world renowned attractions like the Great Wall, the Forbidden City , The Temple of Heaven...
  • Culture-enhancing trips to other major cities of China, like Xi'an - home of Terracotta Worriers; Zhengzhou - home of the Shaolin Temple where the Chinese martial arts was born; Shanghai - the symbol of modern China.
  • Exchange sports or social activities with local Chinese students.

Application is acceptable until April for that summer's program. The program offers early application discount (before 3/31) and group discount (3 or more as a group) as well.

School Information

The camp programs are located on the campus of the world famous universities in China .

  • Beijing camp: Tsinghua University , or Beijing Language & Culture University
  • Shanghai camp: Shanghai Jiao Tong University , or Tongji University
  • Kunming camp: Yunnan Normal University

 

Curriculum
Special-designed intensive Chinese language classes are offered 22-25 hours a week at all levels;

One-on-one daily conversation practices with local Chinese students to maximize students’ communication skills;

Incorporates both simplified and traditional characters;

A wide range of cultural classes, such as Chinese geography & history, martial arts, calligraphy, brush painting, Chinese knotting, kite making, Peking opera face painting, engraving, Chinese chess, Chinese music & arts appreciation workshops, and homestay with local families
