Mission Statement

Saint Charles Parish School is a vibrant, Catholic community dedicated to guiding the spiritual, academic, moral, and physical development of our students.

MESSAGE: We teach the child that the Christian message is not just a concept to be learned , but a reality to be lived. We instill Gospel values that develop moral conscience.

COMMUNITY: We model Christian values in both word and action. We embrace community as a resource that will strengthen faith.

SERVICE: We foster an attitude of service, allow opportunities for students and families to work for the greater good of the community, and promote a living Gospel. We amplify the Gospel message of service through the support and participation of local, state, national, and global outreach projects.

WORSHIP: We provide opportunities for students to participate in traditional Catholic devotions. We offer meaningful Eucharistic liturgies, prayer services, and sacramental celebrations so that students will develop a life-long relationship with God.

Philosophy/Belief Statement

FAITH and DOCTRINE: We believe in Jesus Christ and His message. As a Christ-centered community, we will teach Catholic doctrine and tradition. We will model Christian values in both word and action.

ACADEMICS: We believe in a structured, learning environment. As a educational community, we will emphasize high expectations and the acquisition of basic skills. We will introduce, develop, and maintain responsibility and accountability for life beyond Saint Charles School.

COMMUNICATION: We believe that the education of a child must be a cooperative effort involving the entire Saint Charles community. As a collaborative community, we will foster open communication among the school, home, parish, and greater community.

DISCIPLINE: We believe that learning requires a safe, disciplined environment. As a structured community, we will provide respectful, positive, and instructive discipline that fosters character development.

School History

On Monday morning, September 19, 1910 Mass was celebrated for the children and school was opened. The building was a combination church and school building. Three rooms were occupied as classrooms for the school's 117 students. The fourth classroom was used as living quarters for the Sisters of St. Dominic, of Racine, who came to teach.

In 1915 it became evident that within a few years more school rooms would be needed. The sisters moved into their new home in 1922 to make room for more classrooms.

In order to meet the growing needs of the parish school, the decision was made at the January 1955 annual meeting to build an eight-room school adjacent to the church. In September of 1956, the new school building was ready for occupancy.

School History (Contd.)

St Charles School has always changed to meet the growing needs of its members. Beginning with the 1982-1983 term it was the first area Catholic school to offer Kindergarten. To meet the space needs of a growing enrollment, two classrooms and an additional basement were added to the school building for the 1989-1990 term.

In 2002, the Activity Center was built. It provides a state-of-the-art gymnasium for both Physical Educational classes as well as our co-curricular Basketball and Volleyball teams.

Thanks to the efforts of many generous volunteers and supporters, St. Charles constructed a new Science Lab in 2006. With seating for 30 students, wall-to-wall whiteboards, "partner" lab stations with sinks and natural gas, a computer LCD projector and emergency station, the Science Lab provides all the students of St. Charles a rich environment to learn Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy, Astronomy and Geology.
