Story Time in the Garden
Pre-Kindergarten - Grade 2
Students become garden detectives during an interactive tour of Tudor Place 's 5½-acre history garden. Armed with magnifying glasses, students engage in a multi-sensory learning experience by observing a variety of plants, flowers, and wildlife. An interactive read aloud and watercolor painting lesson follows the garden exploration.
It's Garden Time!
Grades 3-4
Students become garden detectives during an interactive tour of Tudor Place 's 5½-acre historic garden. On the tour, students uncover the scientific principles of classifying a variety of plants, flowers, and wildlife. Two hands-on activities conclude the program, including making a sundial to track the sun's movement and creating a personal garden to take home. |

Historical Detectives
Grades 3-8
Students become History Detectives during an interactive tour of the historic mansion. The tour provides students with a better understanding of how daily life changed in Washington D.C. from 1800 to modern day by examining artifacts, domestic technology, and documents. After the tour, students work in groups to create their own museum exhibit using reproduction artifacts and primary sources.
Explore 1862!
While touring the National Historic Landmark, students travel back 150 years to the Civil War to learn about life in the nation's capital during this critical test of American democracy. After the tour, students experience life in Washington D.C. during the Civil War by dressing in period clothing and creating articles and sketches for a Civil War Era Newspaper. |
