Australian Aboriginal people: a fun introduction

An Introduction to contemporary Australian Indigenous Culture 

 

    This lesson is based on poems from Anna the Goanna and other poems by Jill McDougall (available through Amazon.com). It provides a colorful snapshot of the lives of modern-day indigenous children in outback Australia. 

Procedure:

Create a DIY school yearbook to remember

School yearbooks make great keepsakes. Students can cherish them for a long time after they finish school. The task of putting together a yearbook can seem overwhelming and costly, but there are plenty of fun and creative ways for students to design and print their own yearbook within budget.

Michelangelo Art

Objective:
Students will learn about the artist Michelangelo and what it was like to paint the Sistine Chapel.

Time Frame:
Depending on how deep you go into learning about Michelangelo and art itself. It could be a short 45-minute lesson or it could stretch out over several weeks. The actual art part of it should take at least 30 minutes, but again could take longer depending on your type of media.
