Through this course we will look at the Common Core reading and writing skills and an approach to using common language across curricular groups. By holding the CORE structure of the reading and writing consistent the hope is that students will learn to write creatively and with critical thought around a set of elements that should be present in all writing. The C.O.R.E. framework was developed for use in all content areas. In this course you will learn what the C.O.R.E. framework is and how it applies to the common core. The course will focus on how to use this in your classroom and allow you to see how other teachers are trying it out in their own classes and the successes and struggles they have with the framework. By working together, we can use a common language to promote student writing that is creative, thought provoking, and interesting while being aligned with the Common Core State Standards.
