Requirements: High school students are eligible to submit 1500 word essays on topics related to international relations by February 1 each year. The 2012-2013 National Peace Essay Contest topic is Gender, War and Peacebuilding. Students will answer the question “What does it mean to have a gendered approach to war and peace issues?” Up to 53 state winners will receive scholarships and will come to Washington for an educational awards program (Categories of winners include: US States, DC, US Territories, and Overseas students).
Eligibility: High school students going to school in America or US citizens abroad.
