School History:
In effects to raise the standards for education and prepare Avondale’s students for the 21st century, the union between Avondale Elementary School and IBO began in May of 2005. Avondale’s mission to provide students with a standards-based instructional program which will ensure academic success and creating responsible citizenship is embedded in the IB Primary Years Programme. The programme’s transdisciplinary themes and inquiry pedagogical theories align closely with teaching strategies required to cover the Georgia Performance Standards. The Primary Years Programme is a challenging programme that demands the best from both motivated students and teachers. In addition, the programme aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people to help create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
