School History: Abiqua School was an idea germinated around a kitchen table by a group of mothers who had a vision of a school that strongly supported the academic, social and emotional needs of students. Initially intended as a public charter school, it actually opened as an independent school in September 1993 with 56 students. Abiqua is registered with the Oregon Department of Education and is accredited through the Pacific Northwest Association of Independent Schools.
