Admission Requirements:

All students are admitted as Pre-MLT majors. Requirements for Year 2 (clinical year) includes a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale in all college work, a minimum 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale in college science, a grade of “C” or better in all general education and basic science courses, completion of all courses in general education and basic science and ability to meet non-academic Essential Functions of the program.

Program Information:

USF Crown Point's two-year Medical Laboratory Technician program is perfect for those looking to step into a professional healthcare position, advance in a healthcare setting or prepare for future study in the field at the bachelor's and graduate level. The MLT curriculum will give students a strong science and healthcare background, along with direct laboratory experience. Students will be prepared to take the American Society for Clinical Pathology certification exam and launch their laboratory career. During Year 1, students enter as Pre-MLT majors and complete their general education and basic science courses. During Year 2, students develop their clinical skills in on-campus labs before moving into the field for clinical rotations. Clinical experiences include PLC Alverno and Franciscan Health facilities in Crown Point, Michigan City, Olympia Fields, Dyer, Munster, Lafayette Central, Crawfordsville and Rensselear. The USF Crown Point MLT program has a 100% employment rate and students can expect a median pay of $41,700. The USF Crown Point MLT program is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences.
