Curriculum:

At Brandon Hall, we recognize that knowledge has become relatively ubiquitous and significantly less expensive in its accessibility, and we acknowledge the shift from memorization to knowledge application across disciplines in terms of what is needed and rewarded in the modern international society. We also understand that essential learning factors such as brain development and motivational techniques have and will continue to evolve.

For these reasons, we purposefully integrate 21st century learning skills such as communication, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking into our educational program objectives. The combination of mastering academic concepts and enhanced non-cognitive skills are necessary for admission to and success in college and the international marketplace.

School History:

Founded in 1959 by Theodore and Shirley Hecht, Brandon Hall School is located on a pristine 24-acre campus on the Chattahoochee River near Atlanta, Georgia. The campus is the former summer estate of prominent Atlantan Morris Brandon and his wife, Harriet Inman, and includes the original 1920’s residence. Under Mr. Hecht’s guidance, 1959 – 1980, Brandon Hall School provided one-to-one instruction to boys from across the country.

From 1980 – present, the school has undergone many changes and improvements under the various Heads of School. During this time, the academic buildings and dormitory were built, Brandon Hall School was named a National School of Excellence, grades 4 – 8 were added, and the school joined the Atlanta Athletic Conference while introducing a variety of competitive sports for both girls and boys. The Resident Housing was built for faculty and staff wishing to live on campus, and the Great Hall was renovated to create a welcoming entrance to the school.

Since then, campus changes have actively increased fiscal sustainability of the school while supporting the school’s mission. Today, Brandon Hall is a coed nonprofit college preparatory day and boarding school serving students in grades 6th - 12th from across the United States and 20 countries.

Testimonials:

"I attended Brandon Hall School for all 4 years of my high school career. BHS is a day and boarding school, I was a boarder. My experience there was extraordinary to say the least. Going to boarding school is an experience unlike any other. You learn independence, principle, self discipline, and a strong work ethic. BHS is a college preparatory school, although in a broader sense it also prepares you for life. I faced many things at BHS both in the academics and in dorm life that I wouldn’t have had to deal with if I stayed home. I was never the best academic student but, the teachers always pushed me and helped me believe that I could always do better. Once I graduated from BHS I was able to transfer over all of those lessons taught to me into my college career and it has made a world of difference. I arrived at college already having learned most of the lessons that all the kids around me were just starting to face. I am very thankful for my Brandon Hall School experience!"

"My daughter is a rising freshman and has had a sensational 8th grade year at Brandon Hall. She attended community service projects in Bermuda and the Bahamas this year. Her immersion into the multicultural environment at school and in the community has increased her confidence and self esteem. The teachers and administrators support the students both academically and personally. The boarding school program is well structured to include study hall in the evening and planned group activities on the weekends and evenings. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with our students experiences at Brandon Hall!"
