Service Description: mental health referrals
Mission Statement:
To educate the general population about major mental illness. To advocate for better treatment for the mentally ill. To help families of people with a mental illness. To fight stigma of the mentally ill.
Membership Fee: $35.00
Eligibility Requirements: anyone interested in mental health issues

History:
In 1980 the late Bertha Emrock and the late Ceal Block founded the Richmond Area Schizophrenia Foundation. The organization was renamed Alliance for the Mentall Ill of Central Virginia to be an affilate of both the Virginia Alliance for the Mentall Ill (NAMI-VA) and the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI).
