The Rippling Effects of Suicide with the film EIGHT.
Actor/stunt performer/author and motivational speaker Steve Mason screens his 21 minute short film EIGHT. EIGHT tells the story of Steve's father (a former NY police officer) who commits suicide and Steve, his eight-year old son would find the body. After the film, Steve takes the audience on a journey of his life and explains how suicide affects many more than the person who takes his life. Q & A to follow.
Substance Abuse Prevention - Encouraging Students by Creating a Platform/Opening a Dialogue
After screening his movie EIGHT, Steve shares his poignant and true story of the mental health challenges and substance abuse issues he faced and overcame. His powerful and palpable message coupled with an instant connectivity with the students will leave an indelible mark and begin a difficult, yet much needed conversation.
