Description:

This museum and archivial collection is dedicated to the men and women who have served in the Military Forces of Texas-specifically the Texas Army and Air National Guard.

No cost; donations encouraged

A large majority of our annual attendance is school groups.

Exhibits: The storyline begins with the Texas War for Independence and extends through all major conflicts to the present day Operation Iraqi Freedom/Enduring Freedom. In addition to the main gallery, separate galleries include the history of the Texas Air National Guard, the 36th Infantry Division, and the "Lost Battalion" (2d Bn 131st FA). The Great Hall exhibits aircraft, weapons, equipment and vehicles. Outside is Armor Row (historical armored vehicles) and Artillery Park (vintage artillery guns. We also have an extensive military research library consisting of over 20,000 books from the Civil War to present day military activities.

The museum is located on historice Camp Mabry which is the headquarters of the Texas National Guard. The physical address of Camp Mabry is 2200 West 35th Street, Austin, TX 78703. All that is required to enter Camp Mabry is a photograph ID, i.e. drivers license, military ID. Cars are subject to random search. DO NOT LET THAT DETER YOU FROM VISITING OUR GREAT MUSEUM.
