School Information:

Founded in 1915, Tennessee Tech, or TTU as it is known in the South is a nationally ranked comprehensive university which offers majors in 7 colleges (the College of Business, College of Engineering, College of Education, College of Arts & Sciences, College of Agriculture & Human Ecology the College of Fine Arts and the College of Interdisciplinary Studies). Additionally we have a School of Nursing and Pre-Medical Professional Program for those interested in Medical school.

School Setting:

TTU is located in a town of Cookeville, with a population of approximately 30,000 people (in the Upper Cumberland, the region has an overall population of 100,000 residents). Cookeville and the neighboring communities offers the best of rural and urban living. Centrally located between three of Tennessee’s largest cities, located 1 hour East of Music City USA, Nashville, Tennessee, 1 hour West of Knoxville and 1 hour North of Chattanooga and 2 hours from the most visited National Park in the USA, the Great Smoky Mountains. TTU’s campus is surrounded by lakes, state parks, mountains and rivers in one of the most ecologically diverse climates in the nation. With the many lakes, rivers and streams located in Tennessee, many compare our waterways to the “Amazon of the Southern US”.

Program Information:  

1.       Having one of the lowest cost of living in the entire USA. Cookeville (the home of TTU) was ranked the 2nd most affordable college town in the USA in 2016!  Many see the cost of living as a huge plus and advantage.

2.       Strategic Location: Nashville (110 km), Knoxville (137 km), Chattanooga (145 km), Atlanta, GA (212 km), Asheville, NC (217 km)

3.       TTU offers more than 55 undergraduate majors and 120 concentrations; additionally another 25 Graduate (MS, MA, MBA, EdS, Phd) programs.

4.       Fast Track: Engineering, during a student’s senior year/4th year, if the current TENNESSEE TECH UNIVERSITY student has a GPA of 3.25 or higher in their senior year, they can apply to fast track into graduate studies.

5.       GRE is waived for all undergraduate students whose major is Engineering who have a 3.0 GPA or higher

6.       Located in one of the safest areas, Cookeville has one of the lowest crime rates in the USA, students find it very refreshing to feel safe at school or off campus 

7.       Many scholarships for international undergraduate students, financial aid for US students

8.       TOEFL or IELTS waivers available for many ESL programs throughout the entire United States

Student interaction
TTU encourages our US and international students to interact with the support of many international clubs and organizations, like Tech Buddies which a US student is paired with an international students and mentors them during their initial semester. Additionally we have the International Friends organization in which local families adopt a student for cross cultural interaction and invite them to do activities in the area or join them for holidays and dinner parties.
