Services Provided:
Bridge II Sports creates opportunities for youth and adults with physical disabilities to 'Find The Player Within' through the power of adapted sports.
We are proud to provide:
-Year-round adapted sports programming including youth wheelchair basketball, boccia, archery, air rifle, goalball (for athletes with visual impairments), golf, kayaking, and hiking
-The Bridge II Sports EveryBODYPlaysNC School program brings a day of disability awareness to ALL students (both those with disabilities and their able-bodied schoolmates) through interactive adapted sports participation. This program, led by Bridge II Sports staff and coaches, many of whom have disabilities, is an impactful way to increase understanding and focus on other's abilities. Usually, EBPNC Sport Days 'take over' the PE class and offer several sessions to meet as many students as possible. Bridge II Sports staff work with administrators, PE teachers, and school staff prior to the program to ensure success.
-Special Events throughout the year including Youth Adapted Sports Days. Youth with disabilities and their families are invited to join for a full day opportunity to try a range of different adapted sports. These events are ideal for youth that are new to adapted sports or athletes that want to expand their sport horizons.
Philosophy/Belief Statement:
We believe sport empowers and changes lives on and off the court and challenges perceptions of disability in our community.
We recognize the value and potential of all lives. Disability does not define people or outcomes.
We are about people development; Sport is the tool used to build: Confidence, Self-control, Independence, and Expectation of Ability.
We are a community where everybody belongs.
As experts, we create safety for those at risk to try.
Each person is an individual; each disability is different.
We respect those differences and work with each person as an individual.
There is a sport for everybody, we provide the space to enjoy the journey of discovery.
Testimonials:
"We will be forever grateful to Bridge II Sports for the life it brought back into Ashlyn....She lives for her Fridays at wheelchair basketball practice with the coaches and players. They have given her a sense of worth that she lost about 2 years ago. Her academics are soaring ...her self-esteem is at an all-time high and she is SO happy....much to the credit of this program. It is worth the 1 1/2 hour drive every Friday ....better than any medicine she has received!!!!!!!"
