Area of Focus/Practice Interest:

Our goal is to determine the cause of difficulties with attention, learning, and memory and to recommend an individualized treatment approach using the most current brain-based research. We have been working with children, adolescents, and adults for more than 25 years and have completed more than 3,500 evaluations. People come to CALM with a variety of concerns, including ADHD, learning disabilities, memory impairments, poor academic performance, executive dysfunction, anxiety, depression, and difficulties with social interactions. Working with complex cases is our specialty. Approximately 85% of our clients seek an evaluation with us after receiving inaccurate or incomplete diagnoses or unsuccessful treatment plans elsewhere. Since many disorders can resemble or complicate attention, learning, and memory problems, we have a conservative and comprehensive approach to the assessment process.

Client Age Group: 6 - 90

Services Provided:

We are pleased to offer a wide variety of services to the clients we serve and the people who care for and support them.
Assessment: We have been working with children, adolescents, and adults for more than 25 years and have completed more than 3,500 evaluations. People come to CALM with a variety of concerns, including ADHD, learning disabilities, memory impairments, poor academic performance, executive dysfunction, anxiety, depression, and difficulties with social interactions.
Academic Assessment: Our academic assessment is designed to assess reading and/or mathematic abilities and is targeted for elementary, middle, and high school students. The Academic Assessment consists of both psychological and educational testing, allowing us to get an overall measure of cognition and academic abilities.
Brain Tools: Say NO! to Frustration & Distraction: The CALM Clinic's Brain Tool's cd teaches individuals techniques designed to improve their mood, focus, and memory.
Cogmed: Cogmed Working Memory Training is a solution for individuals who are held back by their working memory capacity. This could include children and adults with attention deficits or learning disorders, victims of brain injury or stroke, and adults experiencing information overload or the natural effects of aging.
Coaching and Therapy: For many of our client's ongoing support is needed. Some people find that weekly therapy sessions in our office are useful, while others get more benefit from working with a coach who they communicate with several times throughout the week in brief phone calls and by email.
Digital EEG: We are fortunate to be able to offer Digital EEG analysis as a component of our comprehensive evaluations. Digital EEG can diagnosis some disorders with 94% accuracy and greatly aid in treatment planning. It delivers what is often missing from typical evaluations: objectivity and accuracy.
Group Presentations: CALM staff frequently speak at professional conferences, parent groups, nonprofit organizations, as well as teachers and school district staff. We have experience presenting on topics related to ADHD, learning disabilities, memory impairments, executive dysfunction, and mental health across all ages.

Notes/Information:

We are proud to share our expertise as a training center for advanced graduate students in psychology. Every year we are honored to have several doctoral students study at CALM to learn about our method of assessment.
