Experience Required:

Previous research experience in conservation or wildlife management fields desirable to assist us in our research programs and development of same. Beyond this, genuine interest and passion in conservation and animal welfare will suffice.

Programs Open To: Any and all (over 18 years old) with genuine interest in conservation and or animal welfare.
Travel Arrangements:

To arrive at Cape Town International Airport, South Africa. Further travel arrangements will be handled by the project at African Game Lodge.

Application Process:

By email and covering letter detailing previous experience, interests of applicant, qualifications and reasons for wanting to attend.

Visa Requirements:

General South Africa tourist Visa will suffice - generally granted for 90 days. For longer stays, please contact us for assistance.

Program Highlights:

Research Programs

  • Small Predator Survey - Initia camera trapping of small predators to determine species and populations resident.
  • Reserve mapping - GPS mapping of reserve incl of biome limits, animal sitings with observations to be drawn from compiled data
  • Weather station set up and monitoring - to determine weather change and effect in conjunction with Reserve Mapping product
  • Insect/Arachnid/Butterfly+Moth surveys - to determine populations and species present. We are confident previously unrecorded species are present within the reserve.

General

  • Community Interactions with local schools
  • Regular social braais (or barbeques for the non South Africans!)
  • Free roam over the entire reserve
  • Star gazing evenings under pristine African skies
  • A true opportunity to make a difference and play a part in changing conceptions regarding conservation
  • 2 hrs drive from the tourist centre of Cape Town
