Training Packages

Hours to fit your experience

Eight training packages, from a full 60-hour Class A program to a focused 3-hour test prep — every package includes test preparation and one test.

New to Class A? We recommend starting at 30 hours and upgrading if you need more. New drivers without experience typically need 21–40 hours.

60 / 50 / 40 hrs

Full Class A training with no prior experience — the deepest hands-on preparation.

30 hrs

The recommended starting point for a new Class A driver — upgrade if you need more.

21 hrs

A solid option for those with some farm or yard experience behind the wheel.

08 hrs

“Super for brush-ups” — refresh your skills before testing.

06 hrs

The federal minimum — also recommended for experienced-driver refreshers.

03 hrs

Test preparation only, for drivers already trained by an employer or CDL holder.

No risk in booking more: unused hours are reimbursed — buy 40, test out at 35, and get the difference back or apply it to a retest. Financial aid, scholarships, and approved funding are accepted for eligible packages.

For Schools & Bus Drivers

Districts across Nebraska need qualified school-bus drivers — here’s exactly how the endorsement works, told straight.

Important for Nebraska Residents

The School Bus Endorsement pathway

Every Nebraska resident must obtain the School Bus (S) Endorsement through the Nebraska Safety Council, because it is combined with the required Level 1 instruction. We tell districts this up front so no one plans a timeline around the wrong provider.

Nebraska residents

Complete the School Bus Endorsement through the Nebraska Safety Council (Level 1 is included there). Midwest handles the rest of your CDL training and testing.

Out-of-state residents

Non-Nebraska residents can take the School Bus Endorsement course directly through Midwest’s ELDT online training.

ELDT Online Training

Entry-Level Driver Training theory, online and self-paced — seven courses covering every class and endorsement.
