The Whole Idea

Mastery Learning

In a traditional school, students can pass a course while missing a real slice of the content. At QVS, we care about students mastering it — 100%.

Pick a traditional “passing” mark:
Traditional school20% missed
Mastery Learning100% mastered

Time is a tool for success — not an indicator of it.

Students proceed through the curriculum at their own pace, and no one “fails” in the traditional sense. A “B” on a unit can be reworked and raised to an “A” within the same school year when a student demonstrates higher mastery.

Learn at the right level — not too easy, not too hard
Master each unit before moving on — success builds on success
Rework a “B” to an “A” within the year
Status reports (quintiles) five times a year — or on request
We Challenge. We Question. We Care.

QVS is a diverse, multicultural online learning community offering meaningful, standards-based education through mastery learning — preparing students with the confidence to pursue their dreams and positively impact the world.
