Spend your summer in Salamanca , San Sebastian , Granada or Nerja! Live with a local homestay family and participate in a variety of afternoon and evening activities. These include culturally enriching activities such as salsa, or flamenco dance lessons, cooking classes, tapas nights, special dinners, Spanish movie nights, excursions to nearby villages and towns, wine tasting, bull farm visits and more. Other options are various sports activities, such as swimming, soccer, volleyball, basketball and horseback riding. Activities are almost always included at no extra charge. Each day includes free time for students to get together with friends and explore their own interests and hobbies. Some programs offer a week of Immersion where you will live with a local immersion family who will treat you as one of their own. This is an exciting opportunity to spend an entire week speaking only Spanish and experiencing Spanish cultureImmersion host families are chosen personally by ECI staff. These families are often comprised of mother, father and, many times, teenagers. Students live with these families for approximately one week, during which they spend all their time interacting with the family, the family's children and friends of the children. This is an excellent opportunity to become immersed in Spain 's traditions, language and culture, while at the same time forming lifelong friendships. Students stay one to a family, other than in cases of extenuating circumstances. Immersion families open their homes to American teens because of their genuine desire to share their language and culture. They make every effort to incorporate our students into their lives, often arranging day trips and excursions that only locals are able to experience. Most programs also have a week of travel to some of Spain 's most beautiful and exciting destinations: Madrid , Sevilla, the Costa del Sol, and Cordoba. |
