Notes

Founded by William Hadley after he lost his sight at age 55, The Hadley School for the Blind has provided tuition-free distance education courses to blind people since 1920, their families since the 1980s and most recently, professionals working in the blindness field. Hadley students live in all 50 states and more than 100 countries. They communicate with Hadley via mail, phone, fax and email. The school is headquartered in Winnetka, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago.

The Hadley School for the Blind offers more than 100 courses across many areas of interest: braille reading and writing, languages, technology, independent living, academics and leisure activities. Our instructors work one-on-one with each student, providing exceptional assistance and educational opportunities to meet individual goals. We have year-round open enrollment, so there’s no need to wait until next semester.

Hadley has been accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council since 1958, by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement since 1978 and by the Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation since 2003.
