Setting

Heredia
Our Heredia campus is located in 3 beautifully and colorfully renovated colonial buildings right in the center of Heredia. While one can still see the quaint architecture of a typical Latin American town, Heredia is also a famous educational center for Costa Rica as it is home to the National University of Costa Rica in addition to a number of small private universities. Heredia is conveniently located just 20 minutes from the capital city of San Jose, making day trips to museums and the theater an easy commute.

Setting (Contd.)

Sámara
Our beachfront campus in Sámara Beach gives students a beautiful view of the pacific ocean right from their classroom. Sámara is a small town that has managed to escape the large tourist boom that has changed so many other beach towns in the region, allowing the town to hold on to its native Guanacastecan culture. The white-sand beach of Sámara is located on a horseshoe-shaped bay protected by coral reef which makes the clear blue waters perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and boogie boarding. The region of Guanacaste is the cultural and folkloric center of Costa Rica, the region from which the rest of the country gets is many traditions and typical cuisine.

Activities

Our program offers students the opportunity to learn Spanish while exploring the amazing wildlife that has made Costa Rica a famous eco-tourism destination. In addition to their intensive Spanish classes, students will also have the opportunity to participate in: Latin dance and cooking class, arts and crafts, hiking, snorkeling, zip line, canopy, sea kayaking, white water rafting, visits to active volcanoes, national parks, natural hot springs, rain and cloud forests beaches, and more.

Information

Every summer Intercultura Costa Rica offers a Spanish immersion program for teens which allows adolescents to learn Spanish and immerse themselves in Costa Rican culture. In addition to intensive Spanish classes, our teen summer program offers a variety of fun, chaperoned adventure activities, which will immerse teen students in the local culture and expose them to the amazing variety of natural life in Costa Rica.

Class sizes are small (max 6) and our professors use curriculum especially designed for teens in the classroom.

Students stay with host families in Heredia and in a student residence in Samara.

Program costs cover Spanish and cultural classes, all ground transportation, lodging, meals, laundry service, and tours.
