History:
YMCA of the USA was approached in the mid-60's by a group of volunteers requesting a YMCA for the Central Bucks area. Over the years, grew from a storefront, program-based organization into the 16,000 member facility of today. The original property was donated by the Burpee family (Burpee Seed Co.) and additional land acquired. The first building on this site was opened in the late 70's, with a major expansion completed in 2001. A current expansion project, due to open in 2010, adds a second pool, expanded fitness and multi-purpose studios, locker rooms and more.
Program Highlights:
comprehensive, quality programs and services responsive to community needs for all ages: youth and adult swim lessons, fitness; youth and adult sports, leagues; teen programs; skate park & teen center; day, sports and specialty camps; youth education; senior programs; family events, programming; more. The Y also offers a variety of Special Needs programs customized to the participant(s).
