History:

An effective structure for an after school program remained elusive until Mattie DeBramaletta took on the challenge. Wright Care is an emerging program which has been carefully monitored by our director. From the beginning, a comprehensive approach was perceived. A curriculum was designed which provided academic, athletic and creative experiences for students along with nutritious snacks.
Modifications involving schedules, curriculum and locations have been implemented based on careful evaluations of
effectiveness in regard to student needs. While students learned early on that there were high expectations to be met, they were also assured that their concerns were also of importance. This sensitivity to student concerns was evidenced when it was discovered the
students didn’t particularly like the connotation of the “ after school” program. After a little brainstorming, the program became
Wright Care.

Additional staff has been added as the program has grown. Under the counsel of Ms. DeBramaletta, the concept is embraced that Wright Care is far more than simply a safe place to go following the school day. Students, teachers and parents are encouraged to work as a team to help students gain maximum benefits from striving to meet the high expectations of Wright Care by combining individual pride with responsible group interaction.

Activities:

Students are expected to participate as responsible group members. Our group works as a team to provide a positive experience for everyone in Wright Care. While students in the Wright Care program have a complete activity/study schedule available only to Wright Care
participants, they also have the option of enrolling in a wide variety of after school clubs and tutoring sessions.
Students return to Wright Care following optional activities.
