Mission Statement:
The Intown Academy’s mission is to ensure that students experience a world-class education in an innovative, community-based public school setting, and to create an educational center of excellence that embodies the diversity, creativity, and global and entrepreneurial character of the surrounding intown Atlanta communities.
Philosophy/Belief Statement:
The Intown Academy is a tuition-free, public charter school that opened August 9, 2010 in Atlanta's Old Fourth Ward neighborhood. The school embodies the diversity, creativity, and global and entrepreneurial character of the surrounding intown neighborhoods, and prepares students to live and work in a global community. The Intown Academy opened with grades K-6. It will add grade 7 in 2011 and add grade 8 in 2012. The curriculum will incorporate the International Baccalaureate Program in 2012.
School History: With expectations running high, a group of dedicated Atlanta residents saw the realization of their efforts come true when The Intown Academy opened to students in August 2010.
Representing a coming together of two historic neighborhoods in the heart of Atlanta - Midtown and the Old Fourth Ward - The Intown Academy offers Atlanta parents a real neighborhood school that provides children in grades K-7 a quality and safe learning environment.
