All students who have other than English listed on their Home Language Survey are tested using the CELDT test. Notes/School Information:
Glen Oak promotes a safe environment conducive to learning, and moral and social growth. Our school wide discipline program is based on preventing inappropriate school behavior and dealing with behavior problems in a firm, fair, and consistent manner. Behavioral expectations, procedures, and consequences are clearly communicated to parents, students, and staff through the Parent Handbook which is distributed to each student on a yearly basis and which is posted on our school’s website. This information is thoroughly discussed with students during the first week of school in class and with the principal in a student success assembly. It is also reviewed on an ongoing basis throughout the school year. We implement Character Counts as our character education program. This program involves focusing on the pillars and traits of character each month. Students are engaged in classroom lessons and activities reinforcing the pillars of character and we hold a monthly Character Counts school wide assembly to recognize students who exemplify the pillars of character. Through participation in several programs, students are rewarded when they display targeted behaviors. These include certificates presented at awards assemblies each trimester, Really Radical Reader participation prizes, monthly character education assemblies, weekly Excellent Eagle raffles, classroom rewards and recognition, and district student recognition nights.
