Program Highlights:
Our garden grows vegetables and flowers year round. The students are involved in every part of the garden process, from turning the soil, planting, watering by hand, harvesting, and composting.
Mission Statement:
To teach students about growing their own food, and eating what they grow.
Philosophy/Belief Statement:
I believe that gardening gives students an advantage in life by learning critical life skills.
Program History:
We have had the garden at our school since 96. In that time interest has come and gone. Right now the interest is high and there is not enough room for all classes to participate.
Volunteer Participation: We have a garden mom that keeps order in the garden, she keeps track of plot space and donated items, including seeds and tools. Much of the donated items come from her. We have parents in some of the other classes who help and keep an eye on their classes crops.
