Program Highlights:
Docent Garden Program teaching children about the wonders of the garden and incorporating it into the core curriculum grades k-3
Harvest Festival 2 times per year in the cafeteria tasting veggies recipes from the garden
Hollly Hill Farms Education Program - Helped establish organic gardens at local elementary schools - field trips to Holly Hills gives students an opportunity to see an active produce farm. Education program in school covers plant growth, healthy environments and the cycles of plants.
Program History:
The Wampatuck Organic Garden was established in 2006 with a small grant from the Town of Scituate. In collaboration with parent volunteers and Holly Hill Farms the garden has been a rich learning and growing environment ever since.
Volunteer Participation: PTO volunteers for Docent Garden Project
Summer garden care - Wampatuck families take a week during the summer to care for the garden - an orientation is provided at the beginning of the summer and support is available throughout.
