Additional Information:

Volunteer projects and internship opportunities with Travellers Worldwide provide an opportunity to take education outside of the traditional classroom setting. For 16 years, Travellers Worldwide has been providing students and adults with volunteer projects and internships overseas. Join us during a holiday break, a vacation, a gap year, or any time of year that you feel the need to immerse yourself in a new culture and help those in need at the same time! Volunteers use our projects to learn more about themselves before jumping into college, some volunteers find that they need a career break while others explore their intended education career path or maybe even discover their true passions in life. There's a big world out there….it would be a shame to miss it!

Setting: Let SOUTH AFRICA be your classroom! The diversity for which this country is so well known will inspire you to live your life to the fullest and share what you have with others. Incredibly huge sandy beaches, luscious green mountains and hills, safari landscapes, deep underground caverns, and waterfalls as high as the sky are some of the environments that cover this country. Take a trip to Cape Town, the site of World Cup 2010, and explore the richness, the poverty, the music, the food and the culture of this incredible city. There is certainly a feeling one gets in South Africa that is so real and authentic, that it is hard to deny the inner and outer beauty of this country. A country that has fallen on so many hard times has created its own spirited personality that can best be described the moment you step off the plane…!

Referrals: WHAT OUR PARTICIPANTS SAY…
"There was nothing else that could have been done to make my placement any better than it was. I found all the Travellers staff, both in the UK and South Africa really helpful and friendly. The information provided on both my school and Knysna was accurate and correct. The placement was a life changing experience for me and I am so glad that I met so many wonderful and amazing people while I was there. I really enjoyed my time there and would love to do it all again. Sharon (Travellers Volunteer Liaison) is an absolute star. I cannot speak highly enough of her. She made my stay in South Africa go so smoothly and made it an experience I shall never forget. She is always willing to go above and beyond the requirements of the job, which was never expected. She really made me feel at home especially during the times when I was finding being away from home hard. I would have been lost without Sharon." - Denise Bennett / Teaching - South Africa

"I am gaining experience in how to communicate with all different ages of children and how to over come barriers such as different languages!! The best thing so far is working with the children in the outreach projects and seeing the benefits we have in their sporting lives, also the friendliness of the staff at the school has been fantastic and made me feel like I was a part of the school. It has been a fantastic experience, I would definitely recommend this placement. It would suit anyone who wants to teach sport and who is passionate about sport." - Harry Bryson / Sports Work Experience Internship - South Africa
