Mission Statement:
To support Oregonians with disabilities in reaching their greatest potential by promoting self determination and employment.
Philosophy/Belief Statement:
By promoting the following goals, individuals who have disabilities will lead a happier and healthier lives while benefiting the community. 1 ) Promote Self Determination, Independent Living Skills, Job Skills Development, and Self Advocacy to people with disabilities. 2) Meet Critical Unmet Needs of people with disabilities who are Seeking Employment. 3) Further the capacities of Grassroots Disability Organizations to serve individuals with disabilities in their communities. 4) Assist Individuals with disabilities in their efforts towards Employment and Out of Poverty.
Program History:
AbleCorps is a program of Community Vision. Founded in 1989, Community Vision is the largest nonprofit organization providing individualized housing, supported living, employment and homeownership services to people with disabilities and their families in Oregon.
Additional Information: BA degree or four years of related experience. (negotiable)
Extensive experience with Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to exercise good judgment, courtesy, patience, and tact in public contact and in problem resolution.
Must have access to reliable transportation
Maintain a driving record that meets or exceeds Ride Connection’s driver standards. (negotiable)
No criminal history conviction including but not limited to any crimes committed against a person.(Background check required)
Position: AbleCorps has an exciting opportunity to volunteer with Ride Connection in Portland Oregon. Ride Connection offers many innovative public transportation programs to encourage mobility in the region including door-to-door rides and assistance for people with disabilities and older adults.
