Program History:

alley's house was formed in February 1997, as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation on the heels of the Welfare Reform Act of 1996. There was a need within the community to provide services to teen mothers. Our mission: empowering teen mothers and their children to achieve independence through support services, education and mentoring. We accomplish this by providing comprehensive case management services, tutoring and life skill workshops. The specific objectives and purposes of this corporation shall be to:
Provide case management services for teen mothers who are between the ages of 13 and 21.

Coordinate career counseling and tutoring necessary to ensure that each client completes high school and/or obtains a GED certificate.

Teach each client the necessary life skills to be self-sufficient.

Provide each client with a “volunteer mentor” to provide support and guidance while participating in our program.

Provide self-paced computer training and on-the job office training to assist them in obtaining outside employment.

Reduce the incidence of teen mothers who drop out of school, increase daily school attendance of teen mothers and maximize the educational opportunities for teen mothers.

Our services are free and volunteer based. Funding for our programs comes from individual, corporate giving, foundations and community group contributions.
