Mission Statement:
American Greyhound Great Lakes is a Not for Profit 501c3 organization dedicated to finding good homes for Retired
Racing grey hounds.
Our goal is to promote public awareness about what excellent, loving pets these noble dogs make.
Our hounds come from various trainers at various tracks. Please check out our Adoptable Greys page to view our
current list of greyhounds who are just ready to go to a lovable home.
Events:
Our 1st Annual Charity Auction "Winning Hearts, Not Races" is coming up fast. It will be at the Avalon Manor Banquet
Hall in Merrillville Indiana. It will start at 5:00 with a silent auction. There will be a champagne fountain and
an open bar. When dinner begins so will the live auction. Please go to our website www.americangreyhound.org to
make your reservations!! This will be a great event and we hope to make this a successful fundraiser.
Also, please see below and get in on the action early:
We are starting to get the troops together to be...FREEZIN' FOR A REASON!
During some of the hottest days of summer, American Greyhound has ice on the brain. Some of you may know of one of our biggest fundraisers, if not THE biggest fundraiser of the year. Our organization is inviting anyone who would like to join us to do the Polar Bear Plunge into Lake Michigan in Chicago on January 1, 2011. Last year our organization raised nearly $10,000 for greyhound rescue. Isn't it worth ten seconds of cold to earn more than $10,000? Our goal this year is a little loftier. We are hoping to double that number. This year, we are starting early so we can increase the number of people participating, and hopefully increase our donations.
If you are already the adventurous type and would like to join us, please go to http://www.firstgiving.com/fasthounds to build the easiest fundraising page ever. You can also make a donation to one of the "polar bears" at firstgiving if you are not inclined to join us.
Additional Information:
American Greyhound needs volunteers to foster dogs, to help out at events by holding dogs and with transportation of dogs. Please contact me at volunteercoordinator@americangreyhound.com if you'd like to help out!
