Mission Statement:
The mission of the American Lung Association of the District of Columbia (ALADC) is to save lives by preventing lung disease and promoting lung health in the District of Columbia through advocacy, research and public, patient and professional education. While most ALADC programs focus on asthma and tobacco control, we also provide expertise in other program areas, including air pollution, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), tuberculosis and sarcoidosis.

The Breathe DC Metro 5K Walk is the signature fundraising event of the American Lung Association of DC. This is a non-competitive event and there is NO REGISTRATION FEE. There are great fundraising incentive prizes starting at the $100 level and lots of fun to be had for all! Put on your walking shoes and join us in taking steps to reduce lung disease by registering today!
We will walk to:
» Fight air pollution to support clean air laws, help clean up emissions, and reduce ozone layer erosion
» Educate our residents about asthma through program outreach that teaches vital asthma management skills
» Help resident adults quit smoking and promote the benefits of not smoking to teens
» Give resources for our residents who are fighting Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) to improve their breathing
» Answer important questions about lung disease and finding a cure
