child focus is a non-profit agency that provides programs, resources and services that enrich the lives of children living in foster care and create opportunities for each child to develop the individual strengths and abilities that will help prepare them for responsible adulthood.
Philosophy/Belief Statement:
The long-term vision of child focus is to create a full service clinic that would provide complete medical, dental and vision care, psychological services and educational testing. Tutoring, art and music programs along with recreational opportunities for children of all ages would also be provided. Support programs for foster parents will include training, respite care, counseling services and crisis intervention.
Program History:
Dr. Stephanie Holland and Gloria Bernal, former director of Regina Hall, has worked with children in the foster care system for many years. They saw first-hand the challenges these children face every day and were determined to make a positive impact on the life of every child in foster care.

Programs of child focus
hPrograms for Academic Success Statistics show an overwhelming number of foster children are at-risk academically.
In-Home Tutoring child focus has spearheaded a comprehensive program encompassing weekly in-home tutoring sessions with the emphasis on reading and math, along with “Student of the Month” rewards.
Mentoring for Continuing Education One-on-one mentoring is provided to students in high school, which also provides monetary incentives for grades, citizenship and extra-curricular activities to be used for their continuing education in college or a vocational/trade school.
hPreserving The Sibling Bond child focus strives to educate the community about the importance of keeping siblings together in foster care whenever possible. Through our regular “get-together” events, child focus provides the opportunities for siblings living in separate homes to enjoy time together while creating special memories that will last a lifetime.
Camp To Belong Siblings are reunited for a week long camp in the mountains of California.
h Community Awareness and Education Our goal is to work within the system to become a powerful voice for change. child focus partners with many national and local child welfare organizations to create a strong network of support and caring within our community.
h“Step UP” child focus has been chosen by the State of Nevada to administer the state funded AB94 program, which supports youths in transitioning from foster care to being self-sufficient. This assistance encompasses everything from obtaining a high school diploma to substance abuse education to living assistance such as housing, food, clothing, transportation and medical care.
hBirthday Wishes Because too many foster children’s birthdays go unnoticed, child focus provides a birthday card and present or gift certificate so every foster child knows they are remembered on their special day.
